Worry about things you can’t control
Find it difficult to switch your brain off
Feel emotionally overwhelmed
Experience ongoing stress
Hold tension in your body
You've pictured people tapping their fingers on their face, muttering affirmations, looking a little strange. We get it. But EFT isn't about the tapping itself it's a way of sending a calming signal to your nervous system while you process what's really going on.
"At Balynsed, we look past the odd first impression. EFT is a simple, structured technique that combines focused attention with gentle tapping to reduce the body's stress response — no chanting, no crystals, just calming your system down."
Emotional Freedom Techniques (EFT), often called “tapping”, combines gentle fingertiptapping on acupressure points with focused attention on thoughts and emotions. Withhundreds of supporting studies, EFT is increasingly being used as a simple mind-bodyapproach for reducing stress, anxiety, pain, emotional distress and chronic pain.
Your nervous system is designed to protect you, not to keep you on high alert. Just as a smoke alarm warns us of danger, our nervous system constantly scans for threats. Sometimes, in stressful or difficult experiences, the alarm becomes over-sensitive, sounding all the time making it impossible to think clearly. EFT aims to help calm that alarm, allowing both mind and body to respond rather than react, making space for logic, clarity and perspective.
Calming an overactive nervous system, not just talking around the worry.
Bringing down the stress hormone that keeps you feeling wired and on edge.
Softening the intensity of difficult memories and triggers over time.
Interrupting the urge before it takes hold, whether it's food, habits or impulses.
Releasing the tightness the body holds onto after prolonged stress.

A mind works best when the snow settles. Shake a snow globe and everything becomes cloudy. Keep it still and undisturbed and the flakes slowly settle, revealing a clearer picture of what lies within. Stress and anxiety can function in much the same way, how can you tell what the truth is, if you cannot see past the snow. EFT aims to help the mind and body settle, making it easier to think clearly, have abetter perspective and respond calmly.
"I spent 15 years in high-pressure corporate strategy. I know what burnout feels like in the bones. I don't use 'woo-woo' language because I value practical results. I'm here to help you find your baseline again."
Emotional Freedom Techniques has been studied in a growing number of clinical trials examining its effect on stress, trauma and anxiety. A randomized controlled trial published in the Journal of Nervous and Mental Disease found that a single one-hour EFT session reduced cortisol the body's primary stress hormone by around 24%, compared to around 14% in comparison groups. A later replication study found reductions of up to 43% after just three sessions. A meta-analysis of 13 studies found that EFT significantly reduced symptoms of PTSD, anxiety and depression, with effects lasting up to three months after treatment.
"At Balynsed, we see EFT as a tool, not a cure-all. For some, tapping alone creates real, lasting shifts. For others, it works best alongside talk therapy — calming the body enough for the mind to do its work."
At Balynsed, we meet you where you are — no prescriptions, no one-size-fits-all approach. Just a genuine conversation about what balance looks like for you, in your life, on your terms.
